Doctor's visit

Happy Birthday, Mandy Jie,  Well, we went to the Doctor today and Mandy had a busy day.  Dr. Schwarzwald, the head of the International Adoption Dept. of Texas Children Hosptial saw Mandy and examined her.  She thinks Mandy may have/had Rickets which is a Vitamin D deficiency.  Mandy received two shots that they don’t give in China and a TB skin test.  We also found that Mandy has a heart murmur and so she had an EKG and chest xray, xrays of her hip, and lots of blood drawn.  The Doctor said she wanted the results today and so we will await her call.  She thinks she has hip dysplasia (sp?) and I need to look that up and do some research.

I will let you know what the Doctors said.  Have a great day.

Approaching doctor's appt

On Monday, Sept. 11th Mandy/Jie has her first doctor’s appt. at Texas Children’s Hospital.  I am glad to see it come as we have become worried about some small things that are happening to Mandy and would like to see things clarified.  She has started having nose bleeds at night.  While this is not unusual she shows no sign of allergies or any reason for the nose bleeds.  She bruises easily and any sore that she gets becomes a large, swollen, puss filled sore that takes forever to go away.

We know that her teeth are involved in some way with her health and holding her hand her wrist seem to “click” kind of.  I was watching her climb on the playground equipment and she seems to lift her leg in one motion rather than bending it so we will see what is causing that.  Updates on Monday, Yeah!

Labor Day

Hello, It is time to update our blog about Labor Day weekend and then this blog will be strictly for Mandy/Jie’s medical and transition and we are going to start a family blog which everyone can view whenever they want to know what we are doing.

On Thursday night, Kathie, Glenn and Cyndi/Jeremy and family arrived in town. It was great having almost everyone home. On Saturday morning we finished up cooking the two briskits and the sausage on a stick and the salads, cantaloupe, and so forth and headed out to our (actually it will be ours on the 14th) property. The people with all of the food and of course, everything else (meaning us) were late but it was a great day and we all had fun. We spread out with tables and chairs and blankets and had a great picnic. Then we sang a surprise “Happy birthday” to Kathie – a little early but she was here and scattered to do what we wanted to do. We were graciously taken on a tour of the house by Mrs. Knighton and decided we really like it!

Everyone wanted to take rides on the golf cart, most of the children and adults wanted to go fishing, some of us just wanted to relax in a chair under one of the great Oak trees. Mr. Knighton had tied a spare tire to one of the trees and the kids took turns swinging on it. Nathan hooked the first fish, followed by Cameron, and Becca caught a small blue gill, Jason caught 4 good sized catfish and Andrew with a little help from his Daddy caught his first fish! It was great fun to see first Shelly and Beth and then Jeremy and Donna rowing the boat around the island of the pond.

We had a great time and have some great pictures of all the kids. We all got a little sun burned and at the end we drove the mile to our other property and went swimming in the pool at Saddle Creek. Talk about having life both ways. I am hoping Jason will put some pictures here and you will see how much fun we had!
